Fort Lewis College seeks a dynamic, innovative, and data-driven leader to continue to improve and evolve all aspects of marketing and communication for this student-centered and diverse institution. This director-level position is responsible for elevating the institutional brand and all marketing, communications, and messaging activities to ensure that internal and external audiences alike have an increased awareness and refined understanding of FLC, its aspirations, and its trajectory in higher education. This position will work collaboratively with the offices of Admission and Advancement to meet institutional goals for recruiting and fundraising. The director will manage and motivate a centralized team of talented content creators and strategists and guide them to successfully support institutional strategic goals.
The director must be a strategic and creative leader with a thorough understanding of best practices in marketing, communications, and branding. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience developing and implementing integrated marketing and communications
efforts that position and elevate the perception of the entire institution across multiple audiences. This person will possess keen strategic and planning skills, a solid understanding of traditional and digital media, and a comprehensive understanding of the marketing and communications process, from creative conception through completion. Demonstrable leadership, vision, and managerial skills are key, as is a collaborative and collegial nature.
Requirements
Required Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field

Demonstrated successful experience in marketing for education, non-profit, social impact, health, or other human-centered fields

Evidence of leadership and supervisory roles, with demonstrated commitment to staff development and building a positive team environment

A record of successful outcomes in the development and achievement of marketing goals

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Experience with and knowledge of successfully working with diverse audience
Preferred Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:

Experience analyzing and interpreting statistics and data

A solution-oriented disposition and ability to approach situations with creativity and innovation
